Egg Donation


Egg donation is a process in which a fertile woman donates her eggs or oocytes to the patient to help her conceive.

  
Who will require egg donation ?

  • Female partner with low AMH and poor egg giving capacity.
  • Elderly female with poor egg quality.
  • Patients with premature ovarian failure i.e. the ovaries stop functioning before 40 years of age.
  • Menopausal women desiring a child.
  • Couples with repeated IVF failures due to poor egg quality.
  • The donors are clinically evaluated and ascertained that they are medically fit
  • Basic sonography, blood and hormonal tests to know their egg giving capacity along with screening of sexually transmittable diseases is done.
  • The donor is matched with the recipient on the basis of blood group,complexion,eyecolour,education,religion and ethnicity.
  • Egg donation is anonymous and the recipient couple won’t meet the donor in person.

  • The donor is given hormonal injections for stimulating the ovaries and the response monitored by serial sonography
  • Simultaneously the recipient is given hormonal medication for the growth of lining of the uterus.
  • Once the follicles reach adequate size, egg collection is done followed by insemination with husband’s sperm.
  • The embryos formed are then transferred to the recipient’s womb on Day3 or Day 5.
  • The recipient is given hormonal support post transfer and tested for pregnancy after 2 weeks.
